Letterhead, envelopes and other correspondence materials are an important part of Northwestern’s visual identity system—often serving as the first point of contact with the college’s various constituencies. Therefore, it is essential they follow Northwestern’s graphic standards. Adherence to guidelines for printing and formatting stationery will contribute to a consistent look for the college’s communication with outside publics.
Northwestern College stationery may not be used for personal use or non-college business.
Guidelines for formatting letters are shown below, as well as outlined in a downloadable PDF of a sample letter. Set all copy flush left. Instead of indenting paragraphs, use an additional line of space to indicate paragraph breaks.

Fold
Use an accordion fold when inserting a letter in an envelope. Such a fold ensures that the college’s word mark and the recipient’s name are the first things seen when correspondence from Northwestern is opened.
Envelopes
Align the left edge of the mailing address with the right edge of the college’s word mark. The bottom of the first line of the address should be 2 inches from the bottom of the envelope.
